DOG WALKING

ActivPets offer a free of charge consultation for you to assess our service is right for you and your dog(s). This also allows me to get to know your dog and understand your requirements.
We offer a variety of walk durations to suit different breeds and ages. Group walks of up to 4 dogs are ideal if you want your dog to be socialised and can play with other socialised obedient dogs. Solo walks are available if you prefer your dog to be walked alone. They are walked for the full time you booked. I do not count time spent picking them up, transporting and dropping home as part of the walk. Your dog can be walked off lead with your permission, but they will be kept on lead for at least their first walk while we get to know each other and I feel confident with their recall. Their safety will always be my priority so off lead walking will be done well away from roads.
Your dog will be collected in my especially adapted van which has been fitted with secure crates and anti-slip flooring. It is fully ventilated throughout.
All 1-hour walks and most 45 minute walks will be at country parks, the local woodlands or open fields where your dog can enjoy a run or play with a ball or other toy, whilst enjoying a good sniff. Following the walk your dog will be towelled down if wet or muddy and delivered back home. I also check your dog's water bowl before leaving in case it needs refreshing and give them any food or medication if required. Water will also be made available during the walk. A report card or text giving a brief update about the walk and how your pet was will be left after each call.

PET SITTING and POP-IN SERVICE

Pets feel more at ease in their own home making this service ideal as an alternative to the kennels or cattery.
I offer a 30 minute and a 1-hour pop-in service. Depending upon your requirements, visits include the provision of fresh food and water, cleaning up around the food area, changing litter trays, letting out into the garden including clean up. Most importantly a fuss and playtime. I can also administer oral medications, bring in the post, water plants, and open or close curtains to make your home appear occupied.
I can also take care of small pets including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, birds and fish, making sure they are taken care of, fed and cleaned based on your usual routine.
I also offer overnight pet/house sitting that can start from 7pm and finish at 8am. This service is often chosen if a pet has a medical condition that requires close monitoring, must be let out for regular toilet breaks during the night, or suffers with separation anxiety.

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is James Baker, I grew up in West Bridgford and now live in Wilford, Nottingham. I have always loved animals and currently live with my Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Layla, and cat, Mia, who I adore. I have worked with animals who have come from all walks of life, some of which have had difficult pasts. One of my favourite early experiences was volunteering at a pet hotel for cats and dogs.
Whilst previously working in both the animal and human nutrition industry, I frequently had to spend nights away from home. Thus, I fully understand the stress caused by having to leave your beloved pets when going to work, on days out and when on holiday. It wasn't always easy finding a reliable dog walker and cat sitter. I really wanted the same person for each visit or walk, especially for the cat sitting because Mia is very nervous around new people. It has been a lifetime ambition to work more closely with animals. I decided to launch ActivPets dog walking and pet service to help with the wellbeing of pets, whilst providing the client with peace of mind when away from their cherished companion. I aim to provide an exceptional service for my clients and their pets whether it be one-off or regular dog walks, pet or house sitting, pet visits/pop-in or providing a pet taxi service.
I am trained in pet first aid, the behaviour of different breeds, am fully insured, and have been police checked (ask to see my DBS certificate, previously known as a CRB check). You can be assured that your pet will be safe and have fun when in my care.
