Puppy Training

The Drill Hall, Knighton training for puppies is not a drop-in session, they are run as a four-week course that progressively helps you build the skills for you and your puppy. Handlers will explore ways of carefully socializing their puppies and learn how to gently introduce early stage training that will result in having happy well-adjusted and mannerly dogs. The importance of bonding with your puppies will be explored through the medium of games, use of equipment, scent detection etc. Other training cannot be carried out successfully until a firm relationship is built based on friendship and trust. Our aim is to help you build this. For those who cannot get to the Hall, similar training is available at my agility paddock in Beguildy. These are either group based or one to one sessions. This obviously depends on the prevalent weather conditions! Do send me an email if this is of interest.

Adult Dog Training

Adult dog training takes over from the puppy sessions, In the Drill Hall the obedience exercises will continue and become slowly more challenging, simple agility courses will be built to suit the age, size and capability of the dogs present, flyball and scent detection can be progressed. The same training will take place at home, here the agility training will be more comprehensive and make use of all of my equipment, and the flyball box can be brought into play. There is usually an opportunity to start doing some tracking if required.

Agility Training

Whilst a limited amount of equipment can be used in the Drill Hall at Knighton, the paddock at Quabbs boasts just about all of the equipment needed to learn how to run an agility course. Training can be taken to Grade 1 KC level, which will enable you to enter into KC Agility competitions. Alternatively just enjoy agility together. This activity helps train dogs to be obedient, there are lots of sit, stays, downs, pay attention, stay with me exercises and so on included in the training. You can also enjoy the fun of flyball, another real favourite, great for socialisation and for lifting the spirits of dog and owner. I have a proper flyball machine, but the dogs need to love getting and holding tennis balls for this to be really fun.
