I visited many dog home boarders in the Midlands are before settling on Claire at Happy Houndz and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I just felt that having met Claire, Chris, and their son William...along with their furry children Bella, Pepper and Ben, that boarding with them would be like a home from home. Claire offers a very no nonsense approach to boarding. With other boarders for example, they charge a full day even if you drop off or pick up in the middle of the day, but Claire simply charges for every night that your pets are with them. We were away for a total of 9 nights, half way around the world, and felt completely safe with our dogs in her hands, even when she had to deal with a mini emergency with one of our dogs (who was a four month old Puggle: Pug X Beagle puppy, and for who she did not charge extra for boarding, even though he wasn’t completely house trained!!!). It was nothing to do with how he was being treated at Happy Houndz, it was simply a condition that was common with his breed, but if it had to happen I’m glad it happened in Claire’s care, because she was a superstar!!! She took him to my vets, administered prescribed drugs daily, took him in for surgery, looked after him afterwards and attended follow up appointments. (She also had to feed him chicken and rice...which he loved!!!) In my opinion she went above and beyond. Other home boarders would have charged extra for taking him to the vets, administering the drugs he was prescribed, and even for the chicken and rice probably. She takes all the dogs over the Chase every day which our other dog (a 6yr old chocolate labrador) absolutely loved, he even lost a bit of his extra podge; he is now at his ideal weight. And I’m sure being around the other dogs, and young William, has given our puppy the best start in life. ...Oh yes, and she even had them for an extra night at a couple of hours notice when we were totally pooped when our flight landed; giving us a much needed day to recover our sleep.
