The American Pit Bull Terrier with DVD (Terra-Nova) - £3.99 | Positive Training for Show Dogs: Building a Relationship for Success - £3.54 | Excelling at Dog Agility: Sequence Training Bk. 2 (Excelling at Dog Agility) - £7.67 | | Training Your Dog for Life: A Step-By-Step Training and Troubleshooting Guide for Dogs of All Ages with DVD (Terra-Nova) - £5.63 | Quick Clicks: 40 Fast and Fun Behaviors to Train with a Clicker - £6.05 | Search and Rescue Dogs: Training the K-9 Hero (American Rescue Dog Assoc) - £4.96 | I have the second edition of this superb book and have found it to be the best training book of it's type that I have come across. It's training methods are explained clearly and in a way that encourages you to push you and your dog to greater things. The section detailing the role of the SAR dogs at the Twin Towers site in New York in the days after September 11th 2001 is quite heart wrenching and I challenge anyone not to be moved by it. If you have a SAR dog, are considering training one or are just interested in the work of Search and Rescue teams then this book is a must. | The Power of Positive Dog Training (Howell Reference Books) - £2.53 | The 10-minute Retriever: How to Make an Obedient and Enthusiastic Gun Dog in 10 Minutes a Day - £7.27 | Dog Training with Mr Perks - £7.35 | I own quite a lot of dog trainnig books and this is one of hte best. Brilliant positive dog training methods writing in an interesting way. Clear step by step trianing course at the end of the book. A must for dog owners trainers and those interested in dog behaviour This is an example that buying a book without reading other reviews is NOT a good idea... because if I would have read the reviews, I would certainly NOT have purchased this book. This book advocates training methods that are now widely understood to be backward, unnecessary and even cruel and I will be putting my copy in the bin. I'm totally anti bloodsports, but although the cartoons relate to the huntin' shootin' and fishin' brigade's breeds of dogs, I enjoyed these fabulous visual cartoons immensely .. the book's a keeper: if you could bear to vandalise it, it'd be great to frame individual pages too.
The dogs' expressions are priceless. (Mr & Mrs Perks are pretty neat too!)
Anyone who has or loves dogs can't fail to recognise some of the little blighters' moods and eccentricities in these cartoons; certainly my husband & I were crying with laughter over several of them.
Buy it - you'll love it. |
