Unlock Your Dogs Potential: How to Achieve a Calm and Happy Canine - £6.07 | The Whelping and Rearing of Puppies: A Complete and Practical Guide - £5.53 | Dogwise: Natural Way to Train Your Dog - £5.22 | Amazing - every dog owner should read this - suddenly you begin to lok properly at your dog for the first time and everything begins to fall into place! Excellent book, read it three times, cover to cover, explains in great detail about breeding, from the mating to the labour then to looking after the puppies, and many more helpful topics. Also tells you what other experiences professional breeders have undertaken and gives great advice on how to get the puppies loving homes. Dont breed without it! In my humble opinion this is the absolute best dog training manual that has ever been written ! there is no force, no clickers, no punishments just plain common sense.
John Fisher is sadly no longer with us, but he was one of the best animal behavourists in the country, and put this to good use when he devised this method of dog training.
I first put this into practice nearly 20 years ago when the book first was published, I trained 3 GSD's and one Labrador over the space of many years with this method, and ended up with 4 dogs thst were a joy to work and live with. You do NOT have to want competition dogs, this method is ideal to have a well behaved family pet...small or large, that is a joy to have around especially at the vets ! a small example of this book...a barking dog ? teach it to bark on command and you can teach it to stop..on command ! this works!
Finally in my humble opinion if you have this book, you need no other.
Ros Moore | Breeding Dogs for Dummies (For Dummies) - £6.20 | Getting in TTouch with Your Dog: How to Influence Behaviour, Health and Performance: How to Understand and Influence Behaviour, Personality and Health - £5.47 | Dog Grooming for Dummies (For Dummies (Lifestyles Paperback)) - £5.79 | I purchased the earlier (and larger) version of this book "Getting in Touch with Your Dog: An Easy, Gentle Way to Better Health and Behavior " hoping to help my 4 year old rescue Border Collie. Consequently it is my view that if you have a dog which is not at ease with human physical contact then this system is probably not the best starting point on your quest.
Due to his horrendous previous life, my dog was very intolerant of being touched or handled to the point that, no matter how softly and gently you approached him if he didn't instigate the contact he would simply bite out of fear. (Matters are improving but not from trying to press him into human contact)
Mist is a sweet dog but with much emotional and behavioural baggage and has bitten 2 qualified TTouch practitioners who believed they could get through his barrier by the TTouch system.
I have no doubt that TTouch does work in many cases but ensure that you know your dog will take being handled before you attempt any of the techniques expounded.
It is also my view that the earlier version of this book is probably of more interest since it contains sections now omitted on building your dog's confidence.
| Grooming Manual for the Dog and Cat - £29.11 | Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners - £22.75 | Canine Massage - £6.81 | Good books but just gives a brief outline on some subjects, I had to buy another book to cover it in more detail. Apart from that it does what it says. |
